The operating problem

A BMS can display every point and still provide little automatic control. The real questions are whether sensing is trustworthy, local sequences are complete, equipment feedback is checked and supervisory coordination has a defined boundary. Critical operation should not disappear with a workstation or network fault.

The objective

For building automation, Kimma treats sensing, local decisions, equipment action, feedback and supervision as one control loop. Essential sequences remain at the edge while the platform manages schedules, setpoints, alarms, trends and cross-system decisions.

How the system works

  1. Sensors and equipment feedback establish the current operating condition. Local controllers check enable, safety and manual-authority states before acting on fans, pumps, valves and terminal devices.
  2. Essential HVAC and water-system sequences remain at the edge, including basic interlocks and protective responses. Supervisory outages do not remove necessary local control.
  3. The platform coordinates schedules, demand, alarms and trends across systems. Operators use that evidence to find persistent overrides, mismatched setpoints, unnecessary runtime and recurring faults.

The practical outcome

The result is an understandable control system rather than a collection of displayed points. Equipment responds to demand, essential local operation survives supervisory faults, and operators can distinguish field, sequence, network and management issues from clear feedback and trends.
