The operating problem

An ageing BMS can fail across sensors, actuators, panel wiring, networks, third-party interfaces, programs and operating practice—not only controllers. Replacing everything may waste usable assets; replacing too little may preserve an unmaintainable system.

The objective

For existing-system retrofits, Kimma first establishes an evidence-backed baseline. Usable assets remain in service, recoverable functions are repaired, unsustainable controls are replaced and missing logic is rebuilt in phases that protect continued operation.

How the system works

  1. Survey controllers, field devices, panels, networks, points, programs, graphics and third-party interfaces, and compare displayed data with field condition.
  2. Use health, compatibility, spares and maintainability to decide what to retain, repair or replace. Map retained points and rebuild required sequences, graphics and permissions.
  3. Cut over by area or system, with backups, offline preparation, unit tests, functional tests, operating observation and a defined rollback path for each stage.

The practical outcome

Usable field assets continue to serve, failed communications and sequences are restored through a controlled plan, and the operating team receives current points, programs, graphics and backups. Phased delivery reduces disruption and leaves a maintainable baseline.
